GORE-TEX INFINIUM - What Does That Mean?
Gore-Tex Infinium Features:
① Water Repellency: the gore membrane means light rain beads up and runs off. Most goretex fabric has been subjected to DWR (durable water repellent treatment). DWR is a coating added to fabrics to make them water-resistant. However, effectiveness can be reduced by detergent, dust, UV protection lotion, natural abrasion, etc. so please follow the details on the care label.
② Windproof: Wind chill can drop your body temperature fast and cause discomfort. Windproof technology blocks out the wind.
③ Breathable: Goretex has high water-vapour transmission rate; vapour can escape through billions of pores in the protective membrane, keeping you comfortable and making Gore-Tex Infinium products perfect for outdoor activities
How does Gore-Tex Infinium differ from Gore-Tex?
Gore-Tex Infinium is best for rain showers, mist or fog, it is not completely waterproof. Gore-Tex is completely waterproof, which means it can withstand heavy downpours and Snow. Gore-Tex is 'GUARANTEED TO KEEP YOU DRY'.
Gore-Tex Infinium is more breathable than Gore-Tex; perspiration vapour is able to 'move' faster through the fabric and evaporate, vs Gore-Tex.
Gore-Tex Infinium products are (generally) lighter than Gore-Tex - due to the fabric fibres used and how Gore-Tex fabric it is treated.
